EFL STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT IN READING COMPREHENSION USING COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION (CIRC) TECHNIQUE

چکیده

The reading comprehension skills of EFL students have been a concern scholars by researchers, but some researchers found that face problems in understanding English texts due to lack techniques while teaching. Therefore, this study investigates how engage using the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition Technique. This uses case as qualitative research design, involving tenth graders from an Islamic Senior High School Karawang participants. Researchers collect data through observation and interviews. findings show students’ engagement CIRC technique resulted three engagements, namely behavioral engagement, emotional cognitive engagement. Behavioral which means can contribute class discussion follow all instructions teacher, express their feelings during activities, try complete tasks different ways achieve same result. suggests educators should expand or develop teaching produce better learning activities.
